Last week, a number of community members and myself took part in what was the first of many Community QA Days.  The central theme of the day was to work through the bug tracker to try and verify issues, find duplicates or old issues and do an overall walk through of issues on the tracker to see what people care about the most.  The day went very well and I would like to take this opportunity to thank all those who participated.

We got together on IRC Freenode in the Magento room starting at 6AM pacific and after a little setup time started working through things.  It was really great to see people participating despite the fact that I had wanted certain changes to the bug tracker to be in place which I wasn?t able to completely pull off.  It was hard to keep track at points of who was working on what, but we exchanged a fair bit of emails throughout the day to keep things coordinated.  We were able to look through many bugs and talk about the issues that community members cared about the most and also had a chat about enhancements to Magento which many people participated in.

The highlight of the day for me was working with the community side by side which helped me understand some of the tools and processes which can be impediments to community contributors.  It is very important for our success to always be lowering the bars in regards to the ways which people can contribute.  One of the side discussions during the day surrounded documentation and how community members can effectively contribute to that as well.  I really do feel that many community members have much to contribute and I want you to know that I am working to put solutions in place.  To that effect, I would like to hear from community members on what tools you would like to see in place to make more contributions possible, but specifically in areas other than code.  How do you like the current site?  Is the wiki effective in aid your contributions.

You can sound of here and as always, my email is อีเมลนี้จะถูกป้องกันจากสแปมบอท แต่คุณต้องเปิดการใช้งานจาวาสคริปก่อน and I would love to hear from you.

Koby smile
