
Meet Magento #2.09 took place on Monday November 2, 2009 at the Frankfurt Stock Exchange in Germany. The Major community event was heavily attended by members of the German, French, Dutch and other European and international community members along with partners, sponsors and members of the Magento Team.

Thanks to the efforts of German Community Organizers Rico Neitzel and Thomas Fleck, the event was perfectly executed, right even down to the live video streaming which was available all day. Special thanks to members of t3n Magazine and Tim Lochm?ller and Lieven Spur for some of the photo and video they took that day which is used here in the post.

Roy Rubin Keynote
The day started off with Roy Rubin?s keynote about the State of Magento and the upcoming initiatives that are being worked on. One especially interesting bit of information that got everyone talking was Roy?s mention of working more closely in the very near future with other Open Source projects on efforts related to performance optimization. Yoav Kutner, Magento?s CTO spoke next about the future of Magento development and new initiatives within the community, such as the Magento Contributor Agreement and the submission of patches. Yoav?s also spoke about the exciting upcoming changes to Magento Connect and that led way to the rest of the presentations.

The day was divided into larger sessions which were held in the main room, and smaller ?cafe? style talks in smaller rooms. Presentations were given by Dimitri Gatowski of Magento Enterprise Partner Visions New Media on Magento development and debugging, Thomas Karst of Trusted Shops spoke about online eCommerce legal and privacy considerations for merchants.

Koby Oz Presents a Magento Community Update
After the break Koby presented, in his debut keynote, about the Magento Community and all the things that are going on and how everyone can get more involved. Koby spoke about the CAB, the Magento Contributor Agreement and the Google Magento-Devel Group for submitting and discussing code patches. Koby also mentioned upcoming events taking place around the world changes to the wiki and the start of a Magento Documentation Team.

There were many other interesting presentations including that of Boris Lockshin of Magento Enterprise Partner Symmetrics talking about Magento on the cloud and Symmetrics? forthcoming Magento SaaS SDK and two greats talks by CAB member Vinai Kopp, focused on Magento module programming and the Magento attribute model.
Meet Magento #2.09 was a great success! The gathering of community members, merchants, partners and integrators along with the very impressive talks afforded everyone a good forum for exchanging new ideas, talking about old ones, forging new relationships and spending the day with Magento.
