pThe CAB meeting yesterday went off without a hitch!nbsp; On the agenda were the community roadmap, information on developer documentation, some new initatives being worked on and a discussion of the status of the issues submitted for the community roadmap. /p p The meeting started off with a discussion with Yoav, Magento#8217;s CTO, discussing the status of the features the CAB had submitted for the creation of the Community Roadmap.nbsp; Yoav was happy to report that after many weeks of consideration, he is now in Kiev with the core Magento engineering team and that we should have a word back at the end of the week on which features will be accepted into the roadmap.nbsp; We look forward to updating the community on this as soon as we have the final decision. /p p CAB members then brought up the issues surrounding tracking code contributions which have been coming in from the various community contributors and how the Magento CE tree can be made more public.nbsp; Currently, Lee Saferite, CAB Member, has been running a mirror of the Magento codebase, hosted on github found here: a href="http://github.com/magentomirror/magento-mirror"http://github.com/magentomirror/magento-mirror/a.nbsp; The plan will be to have Magento team members begin to maintain this git mirror, so that hopefully changeas are more transparent.nbsp; Also, Misha, Magento#8217;s Technical PM, mentioned that the Magento team has been releasing weekly builds via SVN which are available here: a href="http://svn.magentocommerce.com/source/branches/1.4-trunk/"http://svn magentocommerce.com/source/branches/1.4-trunk//a.nbsp; Please note, that all of these resources are intended for developers only and should not be used on a live production server. /p p Next up, we introduced Kara Heinrichs, who has recently joined the Magento team to work on Education, Training and Certification.nbsp; Kara spoke to the CAB about the new initiatives she is heading up around producing documentation on Magento, and how she is already working with community members to help put together good content for the community#8217;s consumption.nbsp; There are a few cool projects around a new knowledge portal and qamp;a forums being talked about, which could go live in the near future.nbsp; We are still evaluating options, but will keep the community posting.nbsp; /p p We have also started work on developer documentation which we hope the community can help lead the way on.nbsp; The documentation will be in a href="http://www.docbook.org/"DocBook/a format which will easily allow it to be translated into html as well.nbsp; After being discussed on the magento-devel google group, here is what a rough outline of the document structure will be:nbsp; /p p * Magento Developers Guide br / Introduction br / Documentation format and tools br / Translation br / CLA /p p * Project Components br / PHP Libraries br / JS Libraries /p p * Getting Started br / Downloader br / System Structure br / Code Pools br / Module Structure br / General Request Processing /p p * Magento Module br / Installation/upgrade process br / Configuration br / Models br / Controllers br / Blocks br / Helpers /p p * Configuring Magento br / General Configuration br / Modules Configuration br / User/Admin Defined Configuration br / module/etc/*.xml files /p p * Basic Operations br / Request Processing br / Application Initialization br / Events Dispatching br / View Level Building br / Integrations /p p * Design br / Design Interface/theme br / Skins /p p * Magento Modules br / Mage_Core br / Mage_Eav br / Mage_Catalog br / ..... /p p * Customizing Magento br / Events dispatching br / Models Overwriting br / Controllers Overwriting /p p * FAQ br / General br / Performance br / Installation /p p * Appendices br / Database Structure br / Upgrading from ... to ... br / Tables Index br / Examples Index br / br / We hope to have the structure in the repository some time this week and seed it with some example.nbsp; The goal will be to get the community to drive the documentation effort, so if you are knowledgeable about Magento internals and would like to help contribute, please join the a href="http://groups.google.com/group/magento-docs"Magento Docs Google Group/a and introduce yourself, your expertise and how you#8217;d like to help the team.nbsp; If you#8217;re also interested in writing small tutorials, or how-to#8217;s, please reach out!nbsp; We#8217;ll be sure to get evreryone who joins the effort a nice bag of Magento goodies with a tshirt and a chance to win an even bigger prize. /p p Finally, we ended off the meeting with a discussion of the various upcoming event.nbsp; As many people know, the Magento Developers Paradise was postponed, due to the volcanic cloud over Europe.nbsp; Those who had registered have the option to carry over their registration to the re-scheduled event for no cost.nbsp; We are working to finalize a new date and once that is set, registration will reopen with an expanded schedule. /p p There are also events taking place all over Europe in the coming weeks.nbsp; Guido Jansen, the Dutch community coordinator, spoke of the first event, a href="http://www.meet-magento.nl/"Meet Magento - Netherlands/a.nbsp;
