piThis post is part of a weekly series by the a href="http://www.magentocommerce.com/product/enterprise-edition" title="Magento Enterprise Edition"Magento Enterprise Edition/a subscription support team covering tips, tricks and hints to some of the most common, and uncommon, issues as submitted by support customers./i /p p +++ /p p Offering promotions such as free shipping is a great way to increase sales.nbsp; However, much like a promotional offering, there will almost certainly be some exceptions to the rules.nbsp; One very common request we#8217;ve run across is to limit free shipping to exclude Alaska and Hawaii.nbsp; While this isn?t possible through the regular shipping carriers configuration in Magento, it is possible through a workaround by restricting your store?s free shipping to only the desired states, as further described. /p p The first step that you will need to follow is to create a bitablerates.csv/i/b file, similar to the one displayed on the image below, containing all the states that you would like to allow free shipping to. /p p a href="http://www.magentocommerce.com/images/uploads/Ship-to-US.jpg"img src="http://www.magentocommerce.com/images/uploads/ship-to-us-thumb.jpg" style="border: 0;" alt="image" width="161" height="185" //a /p p In the admin interface under ?Configuration Shipping Methods? configure table rates as: /p p bCondition:/b Price v. Destination /p p bMethod Name:/b Free Shipping /p p bShip to applicable countries:/b Specific Countries /p p bShip to Specific countries:/b Select only United States /p p bShow method if not applicable:/b No /p p Once that?s complete, using the ?Current Configuration Scope? dropdown select the main website and Import the tablerates.csv file.
