Global managed IT infrastructure services firm Terremark Worldwide (www.terremark.com) has signed a data center lease agreement with wholesale data center provider Digital Realty Trust (www.digitalrealtytrust.com) so that it can establish a Turn-Key data center in one of Digital Realty Trust's Dallas facilities.
According to the Thursday announcement, a Digital Realty Trust Dallas facility will be supporting the company's global IT infrastructure and deliver its full suite of industry-leading services from cloud computing to managed hosting and colocation.
"Digital Realty Trust's worldwide portfolio of data center properties is uniquely positioned to support global organizations like Terremark," Digital Realty Trust global sales vice president Brent Behrman said in a statement. "Our Turn-Key data center space enables customers to rapidly move forward with data center projects using wholesale data center space that enables them to skip the time-consuming and expensive process of identifying appropriate real estate and developing it into usable data center space. We are pleased to be working with Terremark for this important project."
Terremark will begin to move its infrastructure from its current Dallas data center facility to Digital Realty's in the second quarter of 2010. Through the agreement, Terremark will occupy 10,000 square feet of raised-floor space with the ability to lease additional space to accommodate future growth.
Scalable from hundreds of kilowatts of IT Load to megawatts of IT load, Digital Realty Trust's Turn-Key data centers provide state-of-the-art environments for supporting IT infrastructure, providing advanced cooling, power, redundancy, and sustainability features to ensure that critical applications are available while optimizing energy efficiency. They are also located in markets throughout North America and Europe, providing companies physically secure and "green" optimized facilities close to many key markets.
"In addition to quickly extending our existing footprint in one of our key markets, this agreement allows us to control operations within a top-tier data center that meets our high standards for reliable physical infrastructure," Terremark hosting services general manager Randy Rowland said in a statement. "When analyzing our options for expanding our presence in the Dallas area, we realized working with Digital Realty enabled our company to provide customers with our full suite of services from a robust facility in a timely and cost-effective manner."
